Basic astrology course

What is a horoscope drawing?

It is the representation of certain astronomical conditions at the time of your birth as seen from your place of birth. Even in astrology, of course, word has gotten around that the earth revolves around the sun and not the other way around :-) But we are on earth, and from this point of view everything revolves around us! At the end of this basic course you will be able to understand the essential points of a horoscope drawing.

1. The zodiac - the annual movement of the sun

We start with the element by which everything is measured: the zodiac . Astronomically, we speak of the ecliptic. This is the apparent path of the sun around the earth over the course of a year. Strictly speaking, this orbit is an ellipse, but it is approximately circular. A circle is divided into 360 degrees.

I have drawn the zodiac and the sun
Sun in the following picture. The astrological year does not begin on January 1, but at the spring point. Around March 21, the Sun is at zero degrees, the beginning of the sign of Aries Aries.

Now let's do a first little test: When could the person whose sun
Sun I have drawn in the following picture have an approximate birthday?

Zodiac

You are right with "around June 21"! The sun is at zero degrees Cancer Cancer on the day of the summer solstice. This is also the 90th degree of the zodiac.

The longest and shortest day of the year and the two days on which it is light and dark for exactly the same length of time (the beginning of spring and fall) divide the year into four sections. That seems logical.
But why 12 signs of the zodiac, or 12 months? There are approximately 29.5 days from one new moon to the next. This period fits 12 times into a year, with a remainder of 11 days. The easily observable lunar cycle was probably the main reason for the number 12 even in ancient times.

Excursus: signs of the zodiac and fixed star constellations

When someone says their star sign is Aries, they usually mean the sign of the zodiac. Today's astronomers, however, are mostly opponents of astrology and try to substantiate this with the argument that the signs of the zodiac have long since shifted and are no longer correct. There would also be a 13th sign of the zodiac ('Serpent Bearer'), which astrologers have ingorized. Is there any truth in this?

In the night sky, a distinction can be made between fixed stars (suns from distant solar systems) and moving stars (moving planets in our own solar system). Fixed stars always remain at the same distance from each other as seen from us and thus create the background of the sky. Ancient people thought they could recognize constellations in the sense of pictures in prominent groups of fixed stars. It remains to be seen whether a giraffe could also be seen in the "Big Dipper". Or in China, for example, our constellation Leo is referred to as a horse.

Western astrology attaches no importance to these constellations and only minor importance to the fixed stars for horoscope interpretation. The reason for this lies in the assumption that the annual course of the sun, i.e. the so-called tropical zodiac, has always been the decisive factor. It was hoped that a calendar would provide reliable dates for sowing in agriculture, for example. It was important to know as precisely as possible when spring would begin. In addition, fixed star constellations vary greatly in their extent and sometimes overlap, which makes interpretation even more difficult.

What was not yet known in ancient times was that the vernal equinox, the spring point, moves once around the entire zodiac in around 26,000 years due to a very slow gyroscopic movement of the Earth's axis (called precession). And it also moves backwards in relation to the direction of the sun. This is why the vernal equinox is currently located in the fixed star constellation of Pisces - or rather what was interpreted as this group of fixed stars in ancient times. For Western astrology, however, the vernal equinox alone is the decisive factor for the division of the circle into 12 equally sized monthly sections, the signs of the zodiac

2. Basic principles - qualities and elements

The signs of the zodiac symbolize the 12 months from the beginning of spring. The number 12 also makes sense because it provides all 12 possible combinations for the 3 qualities (cardinal - fixed - mutable) and the 4 elements (fire - earth - air - water).

Cardinal
means decisive, essential. The cardinal signs (and later also houses) provide the initial impulse for something to come into being. At the beginning of each horoscope quarter is a cardinal sign or house.

Fixed
means firm. A concrete, tangible result emerges from the initial impulse. The fixed sign or house is always in the center of a horoscope quarter.

Mutable
, variable or movable means that the result is shown, transported, communicated to the outside world. The mutable sign or house is always at the end of a quarter and leads to the next quadrant.

This trinity is a basic human principle. Just think of the Holy Trinity: T
he Father created everything, in the Son God becomes concrete in the physical world, and the Holy Spirit ensures that we experience all of this!  Or:  I work until I drop on my building site. It's finally finished, my house! Hey neighbors, look, are you coming to the topping-out ceremony?

The doctrine of the 4 elements, to which everything in the world can be attributed, is also very old:

Fire
stands for energy, self-confidence, willpower and passion, it brings light and warmth.

Earth
stands for reliability, naturalness, endurance, realism, it brings grounding and calm.

Air
stands for freedom, intellect, flexibility and exchange, it brings breathing and lightness.

Water
stands for sensitivity, emotion, empathy and intuition, it brings depth of feeling and a good disposition.

Spring

I would like to use the example of spring to illustrate the sequence of signs in the zodiac once again:

The
cardinal fire sign Aries Aries
is the initial impulse for spring. The trees sprout, everything progresses quickly and powerfully, but the sun still has to fight against cold nights. In human history, Aries corresponds to the hunter-gatherer.

Only when we approach the 'merry month' of May and thus the
fixed earth sign Taurus Taurus
does spring unfold in all its green splendor. It would be best to preserve this refreshing sensuality for the rest of the year. In the development of mankind, Taurus corresponds to the phase in which people became sedentary and lived from agriculture and livestock breeding. Now it was no longer about attacking and hunting, but about the defense of property and the cohesion of the family.

The end of spring and the transition to summer is marked by the
mutable air sign Gemini Gemini
. It stands for looking over the garden fence. This phase of human development saw the first forms of division of labor and bartering between family clans. People also expanded their knowledge base and learned the value of communication and networks.

Significantly, summer then begins with the
cardinal water sign Cancer Cancer
. If the main introductory theme in spring was fiery, the farmer may be hoping for rain at the beginning of summer. Psychologically speaking, the impetus of summer is an emotional one...

3. Ascendant and MC - the Earth's daily rotation

Look to the south. Is the east to the left or to the right? - That's right, to the left! Now you have the same viewing angle as the horoscope drawing. In contrast to the map, the horoscope looks to the south. The earth rotates counterclockwise from east to west. This is indicated by the green arrows. Now comes our second quiz question: Can you estimate what time of day the person with this sun Sun was born?

Ascendant

Exactly, he or she was born sometime in the morning! At sunrise, the sun is directly on the ascendant. But the sun does not move significantly within a day, it only advances by about one degree on its orbit. Rather, the earth rotates on its own axis in the direction of the green arrows. However, since we are also rotating, we do not perceive the Earth's rotation as such. This gives the optical impression that the sun is moving clockwise from the east via the noon point to the west. On a clear night, this naturally also applies to the moon and the entire starry sky.

Does this fourfold division remind you of something? - That's right! In the zodiac, we divided the year into spring, summer, fall and winter. Now, however, our starting point is not at zero degrees Aries, but at the ascendant. The first quarter of the horoscope extends from the ascendant counterclockwise to the IC. Instead of "quarter" we use the term first quadrant.

From the year (zodiac) to the day (quadrants/houses)

It is important that you follow this step mentally: As with a clock with a date display, hour hand etc., the horoscope drawing now shows two different time levels.

Date display: If I want to know what time of year this person was born, I look at the sun in the zodiac. Then I know that he/she was born at the beginning of summer, at the beginning of the sign Cancer. What are Cancers like? Almost everyone then has in the back of their mind that Cancers are absolute emotional people, quick to burst into tears and so on. Now I know plenty of Cancers who would rather bite their tongue than show their feelings. So not a 'typical' Cancer? Perhaps they are so sensitive that they have to surround themselves with a 'hard shell'? And here we are in an entertaining discussion - astrology as entertainment :-)

At the beginning of my training with Michael Roscher, I first had to get used to the idea that the sun sign is "about as important as the ashtray in a car". So it's relatively unimportant except for a chain smoker. This is because all people in the northern hemisphere who were born in this month have the sun in Cancer. Completely independent of place and time of birth. So it's a very rough grid.

That's a shame, because everyone knows their star sign! And I imagine that there's often something to some newspaper horoscopes for me, the Taurus. - As long as they are not fictitious, but astrologically made. Transits to the Sun are interpreted there. And since my Sun is exactly in the middle of Taurus, the statements sometimes fit quite well. Our Cancer, on the other hand, would probably have to read the horoscope from the week before last, as most zodiac sign horoscopes are based on the Sun in the middle of the sign...

Hour hand: If, on the other hand, I want to know what time of day this person was born, I look at the Sun in the horoscope quadrant or horoscope house. This position is very individual, both in terms of place and time. In New York it is still night, while our example Cancer in Germany was born in the morning sun.

4 The horoscope quadrants - inner and outer world

In this picture, I have darkened the ground on which we are standing. An invisible night half and a visible day half divide the horoscope. The earth, the 'bottom', symbolizes the inner life of a person, the day half represents the world in which he lives.

Horoscope-quadrants

1. What does a person absolutely need to exist? - A body!

2. When a baby cries, it feels uncomfortable and expresses this loudly.

3. After a while, the child develops a sense of self and distinguishes between itself and its environment. This also develops the ability to think and imagine.

4. Finally, the young person learns that they live in a society in which there are rules. Through achievement or by virtue of birth, they are given recognition or punished for what the society see as misconduct. There is also the factor of luck or bad luck, which we can only influence to a limited extent.
This is often referred to as fate.

5 The horoscope houses - scenes of life

Just as the four seasons are each divided into three signs of the zodiac, the four horoscope quadrants are also divided into three houses, or fields. To get started, simply think of the 1st house as the sign of Aries, the 2nd house as Taurus, etc.

Horoscope-houses

The first quadrant ('body, material issues') begins at the ascendant with the cardinal 1st house. From an astrological point of view, the initial impulse for life is birth, not conception. And the 1st house tells us what this person needs in order to assert himself physically and existentially in life. If there are no planets or other signs of the zodiac in the 1st house, the interpretation focuses on the sign of the zodiac on the Ascendant. Here it is the sign of Leo Leo What does a Leo Ascendant need to feel instinctively at ease? - To be 'king of the animal kingdom', to appear confident, to be seen and respected at all costs! If he or she doesn't succeed in this, they experience it as an existential threat and can also become physically ill as a result.

The
fixed 2nd house says something about the concrete body and the issue of securing a livelihood. This includes material and financial security as well as integration into a family (or 'herd' in analogy to the second sign of Taurus). In this horoscope, cusp 2 is in Virgo Virgo. As an earth sign, Virgo has a natural affinity with economic matters, a certain modesty and a solid approach to finances.

The end of the body quadrant and the transition to the spiritual horoscope quarter is formed by the
mutable 3rd house. It stands for showing and communicating the physical and material to the outside world. The sign Libra Libra
on the 3rd house cusp can stand for an aesthetic appearance, a good sense of balance in physical movement or diplomatic skills in dealing with the immediate environment.

The second quadrant ('soul, feeling') begins with the cardinal 4th house. This indicates what we need emotionally, how our emotional life is shaped and under what conditions we can regenerate. It characterizes the mother or the person who has taken on her role. In a woman, this house also stands for conception and pregnancy.

The fixed 5th house accordingly stands for birth and the child - astrologically speaking, it is the concrete expression of the feeling that began with conception. We also speak of 'my baby', meaning a project of the heart that we have realized. Everything that we 'burn for' or that makes up our zest for life, such as hobbies, sex, play and adventure, belongs in this house.

The mutable 6th house has a kind of buffer function between our own self-realization and the needs of the environment. Here we adapt, make ourselves useful, conform to certain role expectations, explain and communicate our feelings to the outside world. If this adaptation is not successful, it can have health consequences.

At the beginning of the third quadrant ('mind, environment') is the
cardinal 7th house.
According to the motto 'opposites attract', for example, our Leo Ascendant Leo is not aligned with its own kind, i.e. other kings, but with the court jester Aquarius
Aquarius on the Descendant! Our mentality (7th house) is therefore always a kind of counter-design to our instinctive nature, to what we are physically. And we more or less consciously seek contact with such people and situations. Ultimately, everything we encounter - whether human being or ladybug, in reality or in our thoughts - is in our 7th house. This is even the case when we think about ourselves.

If a contact turns into a binding relationship, we have already landed in the fixed 8th house. The same applies when thoughts solidify into ideas, ideologies, dogmas or family traditions. The 8th house can also stand for credit, property acquired through marriage or inherited, money (2nd house) from the other person who is in my 7th house. And because my 2nd house is my body, the opposite 8th house can symbolize the body of the other person - or even my non-body, my own death.

As soon as I introduce my new partner to my circle of friends, we are in the
mutable 9th house, my social environment. Also if I express my beliefs at the regulars' table / in the WhatsApp group, actively practise a religion, continue my education or travel to broaden my horizons, I am still in my 9th house.

I find my boss in the fourth quadrant ('society, fate') in the cardinal 10th house. Likewise other state or social authorities whose rules I have to follow. But also my ambitions and life goals, including the trials and challenges I have to overcome in order to achieve them. That sounds pretty exhausting, and it is. But the signs and planets of the 10th house are also the potentials that are available to me.

After passing my exams and successfully applying for a job, I take up my well-earned social position in the
fixed 11th house and reap the rewards of my efforts :-) All the concrete results of my professional or social commitment can be found here: Senior teacher, church councilor, fire chief of the voluntary fire department, managing director of XY-corporation, etc. In contrast to the 5th house, where I primarily live out my own ego, these activities also serve the general public or higher goals.

An appearance on a TV talk show and we are already in the mutable 12th house, the public stage! Many prominent politicians or artists have an emphasized 12th house. But since this house has a Pisces-Neptune character, it can also have the opposite: Completely disappearing from the scene, e.g. in a psychiatric ward, hospital or prison - as an inmate or someone who works there. Because charity is also a facet of this last horoscope house...

We use Placidus as the house system. The intermediate house cusps here correspond to the positions of the Sun when it has traveled one sixth of its day or night arc.
Thus the house cusp 12 corresponds to the first sixth, the cusp 11 to the second sixth of the Sun's diurnal arc from sunrise at the ascendant, etc.

6. The planets - energies in the horoscope

Now the horoscope picture is complete. The two lights Sun and Moon as well as eight planets are shown, i.e. a total of 10 celestial bodies. They can be described as the actors, as performers of different life energies on the stage of the respective house in which they stand. (Although the Sun and Moon are not planets in the strict sense, for the sake of simplicity we will use this term for all 10 celestial bodies from now on).(Although the Sun and Moon are not planets in the strict sense, for the sake of simplicity we will use this term for all 10 celestial bodies from now on).

Horoscope-planets

Excursus: The interpretation of the Sun and the planets in the signs of the zodiac - here, for example, MarsMars in Virgo Virgo is of little importance for Transpersonal Astrology (TPA), introduced by Michael Roscher. These celestial bodies stay in a sign for a whole month up to several years. And the sign position is always completely independent of the place of birth in the northern hemisphere. Individual statements about a horoscope are more possible via the house positions.

If you're now saying, "What, you want to take away my beautiful Libra Sun and my Venus in Sagittarius, are you crazy?" - Relax, the TPA is not a cult after all. If you enjoy the sign positions, you can of course continue to take them into account!

Only the MoonMoon- here in the sign of Taurus Taurus - is interpreted in the TPA. Although the Moon is not location-specific in its sign position either, it is relatively time-specific, with a stay of only two and a half days in its sign.
We even interpret the Moon sign first. It tells us how we perceive the world selectively, through a kind of glasses that filter out certain aspects of reality. Through the 'Taurus glasses', the person in question therefore perceives more strongly what serves their security and cohesion in the groups relevant to them.

Another special feature is that we interpret celestial bodies that are in the last sixth of a horoscope house as already belonging to the following house. This applies, for example, to the moon in the horoscope above: it is in the last sixth of the 9th house, but is interpreted as being in the 10th house.

Due to its characteristics, each of the 10 celestial bodies has a special relationship to certain signs of the zodiac and the corresponding houses. In astrological terminology, for example, the MoonMoon is the ruler of CancerCancer, and the 4th house has a lunar character. The following overview provides a brief explanation of the zodiac signs, houses and the corresponding planets::

7. Constellations - an overview of the jungle

Why do we form constellations at all? If we list all the constellations occurring in a horoscope (as is also done in the horoscope analysis 'AiSTROLOGY'), we find that some constellations occur more frequently in a particular horoscope than others.. It can then be assumed that these issues are very evident in the life of the person concerned.

In the following horoscope drawing, I have drawn the planets that shape the character of the respective house in the inner circle.

We have already learned that the 1st house has a certain thematic similarity with the first sign of the zodiac, Aries. Mars Mars, the ruler of Aries, therefore always shapes the character of the 1st house, and in this horoscope it also happens to stand there! From these two facts we form a constellation with the name Mars/Mars. Double Mars means that this person has a particularly pronounced need to assert themselves.

If Mars were in the 2nd house, which constellation would that correspond to? And which constellation does the Sun in the 11th house correspond to?

Constellations

Correct, if Mars were in the 2nd house, the constellation would be Venus/Mars or Mars/Venus, because the 2nd house has the character of Venus, analogous to the second sign of the zodiac, Taurus.

And the Sun in the 11th house corresponds to the constellation Sun/Uranus, because the 11th house has the character of Uranus, analogous to the eleventh sign of the zodiac, Aquarius.

Now we come to the ruler relationships between the houses. These constellations combine the character of two houses. The celestial body stands in one house and rules the other.

Let's take the Sun
Sun again as an example. It stands in the 11th house, which has the character of Uranus, and it rules the 1st house. Why? - Because the sign of the zodiac on the ascendant (at the house cusp 1) is the sun sign Leo. And what is the character of the 1st house? - Mars character!

In technical terms this is called: 'Sun as ruler of 1 in 11, constellation Mars/Uranus'. Although the Sun establishes the connection between the houses, it is not named in the constellation, but in our thoughts it is included!

Special case: If a zodiac sign is completely enclosed in a house, the house has two rulers: the ruler of the sign at the house cusp (main ruler) and the ruler of the enclosed sign (co-ruler).

How do we interpret a ruler relationship?

Since the heavenly bodies symbolize our energies, the main focus is on where the planet is located. Someone with the Sun in the 11th house realizes themselves in an individual social or professional position. Because the 11th house has a Uranian character, this person attaches importance to not being a cog in the wheel, but to making their very own contribution to the whole and also being able to implement unconventional ideas.

Where the planet/celestial body rules tends to provide information about motives or goals that are promoted with the described energy at the location of the planet. In our example, where the Sun rules the 1st house, this means: Self-realization in an individual social position (11th house) serves to satisfy basic instinctive needs (1st house), it comes from the gut, it is born in the cradle. There is no doubt that this person needs individual self-realization in order to feel vital. If the main job does not offer this possibility and is to be maintained, a part-time job or voluntary work could be considered as an alternative.

Now a small final task on the subject of constellations: Take another look at the chart above with the character of the houses and take a note.

It is about the planet UranusUranus in the 10th house.

-
Which constellation does the house position of Uranus correspond to?
- Which constellation does the ruler relationship of Uranus correspond to?
-
Please try and interprete these facts in the above horoscope!

You will find the resolution after the next chapter on aspects..

8.
Aspects - planets looking at each other

Aspects

In the above horoscope the Moon Moon is at 3 degrees Taurus Taurus at the MC and Pluto Pluto is at 3 degrees Aquarius Aquarius in the 6th house. This means that the two are at a 90 degree angle from the center and are connected by a red line in the drawing. Even if the angle is not exactly 90 degrees, it is considered astrologically significant. The technical term for this so-called aspect is square. The more exact the angle, the more significant the aspect.

The particular challenge with Moon-Pluto is that feelings (Moon) are by nature something fluid and unpredictable, whereas Pluto wants to have everything under control.

The interpretation of the Moon-Pluto square would be that feelings (Moon) and consistency (Pluto) are not compatible. People with this aspect often tend to feel guilty because their perceptions and emotions are not in harmony with certain family traditions, ideologies or moral concepts. Squares create a lot of pressure to untie the knot, which is not easy.

Besides the square, the most important aspects include the
conjunction (0 degrees, i.e. the planets standing together) and the opposition (180 degrees).

With a Moon-Pluto conjunction, this person would find it even more difficult to distinguish between his own feelings and the ideology he has internalized. With oppositions, on the other hand, the difference is clear. But you feel torn between the opposing needs.

Blue aspects,the
sextile (60 degrees) and the trine (120 degrees) are considered harmonious and unchallenging.

A person with a blue Moon-Pluto aspect feels in harmony with the ideological heritage they have inherited from their family.
He can usually develop deep and passionate feelings in a positive sense.

Here is the resolution to the constellation task:

1.
Uranus in the 10th house corresponds to Saturn/Uranus.

2. Uranus as ruler of 7 in 10 corresponds to Venus/Uranus.

3. Uranus in the 10th house can indicate a very changeable career, with many unexpected twists and turns, both positive and negative. However, this is all the less true the more strongly career and life goals correspond to Uranian themes: pilot, computer scientist, astrologer, demolition expert, revolutionary leader (Donald Trump has Uranus in the 10th house) - anything that has to do with innovative, future-oriented technologies or ideas or is unconventional.

This unconventional career serves the need for contact (7th house). Often partnerships and friendships, but also intimate enmities, develop through the profession.
If you leave your job, there is a risk of becoming lonely.

So, now you have done a good bit of work and learned the most important components of a horoscope drawing.

For example, you now know exactly where to look first if you want to find out something about the person's money and possessions. Namely in the 2nd house:

- Which sign is on the house cusp 2 and in which house is the ruler of this sign? -> That's where the money comes from! If the ruler of 2 is in the 10th house, it is earned quite normally with the profession, if it is in the 7th house together with the partner or through the partner, in the 8th house one possibly lives on credit or through inheritance...

- The character of the ruling planet provides information about the abilities a person uses to make money: If it is Mars, he has to assert himself and show a clear edge. With Venus, on the other hand, diplomacy and sociability, or even attractiveness, are required.

- Does the ruling planet make aspects to other planets or house cusps? -> This could be helpful in making money or indicate problems.

- Is there an enclosed sign in the 2nd house? Where is its ruler? -> There could be a second source of income here.

- Are there planets in the 2nd house? -> They give clues as to what this person associates with money and possessions. It is also worth looking at where these planets rule. For example, if the ruler of 4 is in the 2nd house, the chart holder also has a very emotional relationship with money. It may help him to create a beautiful home.

- Planets directly on the cusp of the 2nd house are of maximum significance for the subject of finance.

---

A slightly different approach to the horoscope is necessary if someone does not want to have a specific subject interpreted, but says, "Now explain to me what kind of person I am!" What is the best place to start so that a coherent character portrait emerges. This is where Michael Roscher's cybernetic planetary model has helped me the most, and this is also how I developed the written horoscope interpretation 'AiSTROLOGY'.

9
. The Cybernetic Model - the common thread

Cybernetic planetary model by Michael Roscher

According to Brittanica, cybernetics is the science of the control and regulation mechanisms in animate and inanimate systems. Just as the temperature sensor controls my heating, my skin nerves tell the brain that I am cold. This in turn assesses the situation and tells my arms to put on a sweater.

Michael Roscher's first control loop, which stands for the ego, consists of the Moon (perception), Mercury (processing) and the Sun (action). A short example story:

First-circle

Let's assume you feel thirsty and see your favorite pub. You think to yourself that there might be something to drink there and go in.

The action leads to new perceptions, which in turn are processed, which is why we speak of a control loop:

You see that the light is on and conclude that it is still open, whereupon you go in.

Let's apply this to our horoscope example:

Aspects

The horoscope interpretation begins with the Moon:

-
Moon in the sign of Taurus: The perception is security-oriented, the person looks at the world through the glasses of Taurus: 'Together we are strong'.

- Moon in the 10th house (last sixth of the 9th house): What this person pays particular attention to is social recognition, profession, career.

- The Moon rules the 12th house (sign of Cancer on the cusp of the house): This kind of perception serves the public appearance, the appearance of this person in society or on the fringes of society.

- Moon in aspect square to Pluto: feelings of guilt (see above) and in aspect trine to Mars: feelings can be well asserted.

Then we interpret
Mercury:

- Mercury in the 12th house, even on the cusp of the house: The processing of what is perceived takes place in a non-everyday way. In fortunate cases, you are intuitively correct with your assessments. However, as you 'tick' completely differently to most people, there can also be misunderstandings and misjudgements.

- Mercury rules the 2nd house (Virgo) and the 11th house (Gemini): Processing impressions that are not commonplace serves the purse (2nd house) and social position (11th house). A profession that requires a special ability to read between the lines?

The Sun provides us with the following information:

- Sun in the 11th house (I'm quoting myself :-) Someone with the Sun in the 11th house realizes themselves in an individual social or professional position. Because the 11th house has a Uranian character, this person attaches importance to not being a cog in the wheel, but to making their very own contribution to the whole and also being able to implement unconventional ideas.

- The Sun rules the 1st house (Leo): Self-realization in an individual social position (11th house) serves to satisfy basic instinctive needs (1st house), it comes from the gut, it is in his cradle. There is no doubt that this person needs individual self-realization in order to feel vital. If the main job does not offer this possibility and is to be maintained, a part-time job or voluntary work could be considered as an alternative.

- Aspects to the Sun:

a) Conjunct Jupiter: Everything this person does, he does extensively and he wants to find meaning in what he does. However, he may take on too much and not have the discipline to see things through to the end.

b) Square to Saturn and Neptune on house cusp 9: The social environment or one's own world view (house 9) present a double challenge. On the one hand, this can consist of anxiety and exaggerated caution, you don't want to do anything wrong (Saturn). On the other hand, there is the danger of distraction or paralysis through unworldly beliefs (Neptune). If these challenges are overcome, something can be created that is both inspired (Neptune) and socially recognized (Saturn).

What do you think this person does for a living? My guess is freelance artist or writer!
You have now gained an impression of how horoscope interpretation works with the help of the cybernetic model.  In the following, I will introduce you to the remaining three control loops.

The second control loop is about me and you, the interpersonal sphere consisting of Venus and Mars. Our little story continues:

Second-Circle

The landlord actually wanted to call it a day, but after you tell him very forcefully how thirsty you are, he pours you another beer.

The third control loop stands for society, what it gives to me (Jupiter) and the discipline it demands of me (Saturn)...

Third-Circle

Because youhave been given a pay rise, you are generous and buy a round in the pub. But then it's closing time and time to go home..

The Fourth Cycle represents fate and consists of the three outer planets Neptune, Uranus and Pluto.

Fourth-Circle

You've already had a few drinks and come up with the crazy idea of using your car, which is parked nearby, to drive home. But somehow your conscience tells you that you'd better not. You follow your inner voice, and that's a good thing, because suddenly a police patrol drives past...
